Waverley Association for Special People
At Waverley School, our charity is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with the most complex needs. Through your generous donations, we can provide vital resources that improve their mobility, support their learning, and promote their overall wellbeing. We also fund opportunities for our children to explore and enjoy the community around them, fostering independence and confidence.
WASP receives support from individuals, local businesses, schools, rotary clubs, religious organisations, and many other groups. Every donation and fundraising effort directly contributes to purchasing essential items and experiences that government funding cannot provide.
Helping Every Child to Thrive
WASP raises funds to provide equipment, experiences, and opportunities that go beyond standard school funding. From adapted bicycles and sensory rooms to minibuses and community trips, we make sure every pupil gets the best possible learning experiences and support they need to thrive.
What We Do
Our small charity is overseen by a dedicated group of trustees made up of parents, former staff and local supporters. The trustees convene twice a year to review and approve requests from Waverley School for funding from the WASP fund. Requests are submitted through Waverley’s business manager. Everything we raise goes directly to the children at Waverley School.
Recent Projects Funded by WASP
Thanks to generous fundraising efforts, WASP has been able to fund:
- Purchase and maintenance of adapted bicycles-so students can ride with friends and family
- Sensory room resources-calming lights, sounds, textures and smells
- Minibus maintenance-so we can continue to take the students on class trips to enrich their learning experiences
- Sensory lighting for the hydrotherapy pool
- Playground equipment and resources-to ensure every child has the correct resources to play with their peers.
- Outings and excursions to museums, galleries, the zoo, farms etc

Getting involved in fundraising is easy and open to everyone!
Whether you organise an event, run a sponsored challenge like a bicycle ride, or mark a special occasion with a donation, your efforts make a real difference.
You don't need to run a marathon or host a gala, here are simple ways to support WASP right now:
- Donate online - as a one-off or make a monthly donation, every amount counts.
- Fundraise for us-run, bake, skip, host a quiz, do a bungy jump-create your own fundraising page on JustGiving and choose WASP as your chosen charity.
- Volunteer-help at an event or join our small group of trustees.
- Leave us a gift in your will-a lasting legacy for the children at Waverley.
