Financial Benchmarking

Financial benchmarking is the process of comparing a school's financial data (like income, spending and workforce) with similar schools with comparible characteristics to identify strengths, inefficiencies, and areas for development. Financial benchmarking allows school leaders to make better resource allocation decisions to support teaching and educational outcomes.

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is a funding scheme designed to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged students and their peers. It provides additional financial resources to schools to support pupils who are eligible for free school meals, for looked after children and previously looked after children and those with certain other indicators of economic or social disadvantage. The aim is to improve educational outcomes and ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Schools receive the Pupil Premium directly from the government and are expected to use it effectively to provide targeted interventions, resources, and support for students who are deemed to be disadvantaged.

Pupil premium spending is reported to show how schools use funding to diminish the attainment gap between students deemed as disadvantaged and their non-disadvantaged peers. We must detail our strategy, evidence informed approaches, expenditure and the impact on progress.

PE and Sports Premium

The Sports Premium, also known as the Primary PE and Sports Premium is funded by the government to improve the quality of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity. The aim is to encourage more children to participate in sports and physical activities, promote healthier lifestyles and develop their skils, confidence and teamwork, regardless of children's background or ability. The sports premium can be used to provide broader and more inclusive sporting opportunities. The funding received can be used to enhance and resource PE lessons, provide extra curricular activities, employ specialist coaches, purchase equipment, and develop staff expertise in delivering quality PE and sport.

Schools are required to publish a self-evaluation of how they have used the funding and the impact it has had on student's participation and skills.
