What do we offer?
- Primary 2 provides full-time education for children in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
- Our dedicated staff are fully committed to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- High levels of staffing ensure student safety and wellbeing.
- Our team’s expertise enables us to tailor learning experiences that build on each child's individual skills, supporting their ongoing educational development.
We offer a caring and stimulating environment where pupils can continue to explore, learn and develop skills across all the areas of the curriculum. We have three classes with a high staff-to-pupil ratios to ensure personalised support for each student.
We promote independence in all pupils, encouraging them to develop their physical abilities and life skills. Our goal is that by the time students leave Primary 2, they will have grown into confident individuals with a keen desire to learn new skills and apply them in the wider world.
Curriculum Approach
We follow the Waverley curriculum which is a topic-based framework divided into different areas of learning across three levels, carefully adapted to meet the unique needs of our pupils. Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Class Highlights
We follow the Waverley curriculum, providing sensory based learning while also focusing on each student's individual goals. Additionally, we are committed to enhancing communication skills so that students can make choices and express their needs and feelings. This includes using early AAC tools such as Yes/No symbols, PODD books, single-message voice output devices, eye gaze devices and Makaton. Together we explore, investigate, and enjoy engaging in various activities and sessions, making learning fun and meaningful.
A key focus of our program is developing each child's communication skills. We are dedicated to helping them express their needs, feelings, and choices confidently. To achieve this, we model a variety of communication methods such as PODD, visual supports, and Makaton. These tools empower our pupils to develop their 'voice' and participate more fully in their learning. Our students enjoy swimming sessions. This coupled with our PE sessions focusses on strengthening their muscles, improving coordination, and promoting overall physical well-being. Our shared love for being active means that our children are encouraged to participate as much as possible, fostering not only physical development but also joy and a sense of achievement in their everyday experiences.
